HE Lifts Me UP, is our annual DanceRaiser. Dance…it is what we do and Raiser because we want to raise awarenss. It’s a community wide event to raise needed funds for the Merciful HELP Center.

Three decades ago with a priest and a couple of volunteers working out of a closet in the lower level of the church, a ministry was created at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. This ministry that provides assistance to parishioners and others in Hamilton county is now know as, the Merciful HELP Center.

What started out as that simple closet-sized food pantry has grown to over 18 vibrant ministries now housed in a 13,000 square foot building called the Matthew 25 Center, which opened on June 18, 2011, and also includes the Trinity Free Clinic.

Connect with HE Lifts Me UP on Twitter, Face-Book and Instagram to learn more about this event and watch the excitement grow!

The Hamilton family has been volunteering for the MHC for about 13 years. The Christmas program was always the one in which the whole family participated together and grew to love. They have volunteered as a family coordinator and also helped with the food donations. Their youngest child, Crush, who is now eleven, has grown up around the Merciful Help Center.

The family has embraced volunteerism in all aspects of their lives. Being the youngest of four children, Crush watched his siblings volunteer in other community and school events. He was always giving Mrs. Slaton ideas of things he thought she needed at the Pantry, like fork lifts, or ideas of how to raise money.

In the spring of 2015, Crush proposed his newest idea to Mrs. Slaton, a “DanceRaiser.” He had even named it “HE Lifts Me UP.” She liked it and encouraged him to put a plan together.

Over the last several months Crush and a team of kids, 5th through 12th graders have been fine-tuning a plan for the first annual, HE Lifts Me UP DanceRaiser. This kid inspired and created event will include dancing, fellowship and inspirational stories from the people impacted by the MHC.
